MAKE SOCIAL CHANGE

MAKE SOCIAL CHANGE

Studying the idea of “Flow,” a theory coined by psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, we dove headfirst into better understanding how (and when) individuals experience this utmost feeling of happiness as the result of being completely immersed in a state of engaged activity. Studying “Flow,” we began to realize how easy it is to confuse the authenticity of this theory with the artificiality of social media use.

With the newest IOS update allowing for individuals to track and access their weekly social media usage to the hour, we were inspired to tackle this data and mold it into the form of a website mockup. Our website will calculate approximately how many remaining years of an individual’s life will be spent on social media. This “oh shit” moment was founded on the idea that the average individual is likely an avid social media user (like us) in need of a wakeup call. It’s a call to action, forcing us to consider how we are currently spending our time versus how we could be spending our time. Making social change starts with a simple changed behavior.

Fully processing website (makesocialchange.co) will be coming soon.
